Zoom To-Do’s Before November 8

  • Consider plugging into your modem via an Ethernet cable/DSL versus using WiFi.
  • Use a laptop or desktop computer, if possible. They provide a better Zoom experience and generally work better with Zoom than mobile devices.
  • Download the latest version of Zoom Client for Meetings. Zoom does updates frequently, and not updating in advance means you will be prompted to update on login.
  • Test your audio and video via Zoom. It sets up a test meeting just for you to see and hear yourself.
  • Need help? Contact us before 11/08 with “Zoom” as the subject and we can arrange a test session.

Tech To-Do’s on November 9-10

  • Exit all applications including web browsers and turn your computer off and on again (i.e. reboot).
  • Limit the number of browsers you have open at once.
  • Open the Program Page with the password from Eventbrite emails and click the session link you wish to join.  Session links are in the far right column of the Program table titled Location.
  • We are using Zoom Meeting.
  • You will arrive muted and we ask you remain muted throughout the event.
  • For networking, ensure your name and organization are displayed on your Zoom screen.
  • Consider adding your gender pronouns to your screen name.
  • You can turn your video on or off during the event.
  • Virtual backgrounds may slow your access. If you choose to use one, it cannot be animated.
  • For all Main Stage and Breakout presentations, Q&A will take place in the Chat function and moderated. A few networking sessions will be more informal with participants invited to unmute.
  • All Sessions will be recorded and made available to attendees later via a Google Drive link.
  • Having problems during a session? Use the Private Chat function to contact the session Zoom Co-Host directly.
