Local governments across the US have worked for years to implement recycling in multi-family housing settings, often with the same takeaway observation: it isn’t easy. Despite the significant potential for diversion they offer, recovery from multi-family settings requires overcoming a range of unique physical, operational and behavioral barriers.
This session will feature a presentation from the Recycling Partnership, describing their multi-family initiatives, including grants to local communities, a new toolkit and other resources, and an ongoing research agenda testing the effectiveness of different infrastructure, policy and outreach practices that can lead to workable solutions. The session will also include brief case study presentations from several local communities the Recycling Partnership collaborates with.
